Independent technology advisors
Big technology decisions, made simple — and made in your favor.
When your business takes on new software — the systems that run your money, your people, your day-to-day — every company selling to you has their own interest at heart. We're the ones who only answer to you: we help you choose well, read the fine print, and keep the whole thing on track.

Why we exist
The software company sells the software. The installer sells their hours. Each is good at their part — and each is paid for their part. So who's looking out for the whole thing? That's us.
What we do
Four ways we take the pressure off you.
Use any one on its own, or let us guide the whole thing from first decision to daily use.
Choosing the right systems
New software is something you'll live with for years. We learn what your team really needs, compare the honest options, and confirm the real prices with the sellers — so you're never taking a salesperson's word for it.
Accounting, payroll, scheduling, and more.
Checking the contract
The surprises hide in the fine print. Before you sign, we read every line, point out what's risky or missing, and give your lawyer a running start instead of a blank page.
We flag the risks; your attorney makes the call.
Managing the rollout
While the vendor installs your new system, we're the ones keeping them on schedule and on budget — checking the work at each step before any money changes hands.
Your person making sure it's done right.
Making it all connect
Your systems need to talk to each other — your team in the field, your accounting, your payroll. We map how the information moves and test it early, so the switch-over isn't a leap of faith.
So the pieces work together, not against you.
Where most people start
Email and Microsoft 365, run properly.
Moving a company's email is the job nobody wants to get wrong. We move you onto Microsoft 365 without losing mail, set every employee up on their own company address, and then look after it day to day — new starters, people leaving, passwords, shared inboxes, security.
From there the same people can handle the rest: your cloud storage, your security, and your software licenses. One team from the first decision to daily use, so nothing falls through the cracks.
The journey

Step 1 of 6
We get to know your situation
We start with a free, relaxed conversation to understand what you're trying to do and what's keeping you up at night. No jargon, no pressure — just a clear picture of where you stand today.
The promise underneath all of it
No horse in the race.
We never take commissions, referral fees, or kickbacks from the companies whose products we recommend. You're paying for honest advice — so our advice answers to you, and to nobody else. That independence is the whole reason we exist.
The kind of thing we catch
What having someone on your side is worth.
Picture a company with several locations about to choose a payroll system and sign the contract to install it. Price the two finalists using the sellers' own numbers and a difference of tens of thousands over three years can sit between options that looked the same on the surface. Read the contract properly and you find the rest: an agreement that expired before anyone signed it, a whole piece of the work quietly left out, no protection if it goes wrong. None of that is exotic — it's what turns up when somebody who isn't selling you anything actually reads the paperwork. That's the job.
Who we are
Two founders. You'll work with both of us.
Gray Matter Group is small on purpose. There's no account manager standing between you and the people doing the work — the person who reads your contract is the same person who picks up when you call. We split the work evenly and both of us stay on your account from the first call to daily running.
Holden Monroe
Works across the whole engagement — sitting in on the decisions, reading the contracts, and doing the hands-on setup and migration work himself.
Josh Gray
Works across the whole engagement too — scoping what you actually need, keeping vendors to their word, and making sure the systems connect and keep running.
